Star Torch

Getting the scale and dimensions correct for the props took a good amount of time. I started with the star torch since Preston was able to get a look at it compared to the character in the actual game. Mario's height was about halfway up the torch which gave me a good reference.

From there, I tried to mimic the polycount of the model as much as possible. With the noclip viewer, you can get angles not possible in the game and get a good idea of the polycount. I started modeling the star torch at the base, using a cylinder as a starter, and worked my way up from there. The star is a separate object I modeled using a cylinder that I narrowed down to 10 sides.

Teleporter

Next I modeled the teleporter which was a little tricky with how some of the edges merge. There is also a glass topper that covers the center of the teleporter, but there's no opacity on it so it would cover everything up

Torch

Next I modeled one of the torches that can be found around the map. The base was pretty simple, but getting the star shaped cone on top was a little tricky to figure out.

Star Block

Next I modeled the star cube. I made a separate star object and then used that to cut edges into a cube so that the indent would be right.

Sofa

Lastly, I modeled the sofa. The bottom section is a separate object so that it can be reused for the variant that has trees on top of it.

Throughout all the models I tried to stay faithful to the polycount you can observe in noclip. I tried to mimic as many techniques they used to reduce the polycount.
