CAGD 373 - Sprint 4

   CAGD 373 - Sprint 4

Compass Covered (Left) Compass Uncovered (Right)

The first thing I worked on this sprint was the star compass that the player uses to view the whole map. The most challenging aspect was UVing the gears. For some reason my UVs were all unfolding together even when I only had a few selected. I ended up finding the solution was that that the 3D Unfold Plugin was not loaded for some reason. I have worked in the same scene for the majority of this project, so I'm unsure why it changed in the first place. Regardless, I was able to find the fix that same day.

Star Bank Floor

The next thing I worked on was the floor of the star bank. The majority of the model was fairly straightforward to make with the trickiest part being the stars engraved into the rotating disks.

Platform Variations

The next thing I worked on was the platforms that can be found around the top of the spire. There needed to be a few variations including: a thicker metal platform, a thinner metal platform, a thinner metal platform with a path branching out of it, and a glass platform with stars built into it. The most difficult to make was easily the one that needed a path branching out of it. Matching the pipes and parts where the floor was cutoff took a little while to figure out.

Gateway

The next thing I worked on was the Gateway. This building functions similarly to domes and can be found on the floating island with flowers on it. This was much more straightforward to make than the previous models.

Star Bank Board

The next thing I worked on was the star bank board which displays the players progress in the game. It's double sided so the image on the back will need to be reversed.

Props

I also worked on various props throughout the scene. This includes: a one-up mushroom, a butterfly, a telescope, a small and large star trophy, and a simple rock (not shown in photos above).

Alpha Cutouts

Finally, I worked on getting the alpha cutouts for objects in game. I used screenshots and went into photoshop to get as close to the old textures as possible.
